Hello, it’s that time of the week again for me to tell you what we've been reporting in this past week on all things to do with graduate recruitment.

General news from TARGETjobs
Let me start with some exciting news. Only 10 days to go until How to get hired Live, the biggest career event of the year. With a line-up of prestigious professionals prepared to offer their career advice it is an opportunity not to be missed!

On to our latest career advice articles:

Have you started writing your CV and covering letter to apply for graduate jobs? Have a read of our article 'Four covering letter blunders (and how to avoid them)' to Find out about the phrases you should avoid including in your covering letter for an internship, work experience placement or graduate job, and why.

Mitigating circumstances are serious, often unforeseen reasons or events that prevented you from achieving your expected academic results, which graduate recruiters, may take into account when processing job applications. Have a read of our article 'What are mitigating circumstances for graduate job applications' to find out what employers regard as mitigating or extenuating circumstances, and find out how to disclose them in your applications for graduate jobs.

Are you interested in a career working in quantity surveying and build surveying? Have a read of our article 'Impressing in quantity surveying and building surveying technical interviews' to gain insight into the surveying technical interview questions and what recruiters are looking for in your answer. Your technical understanding of quantity or building surveying is usually tested during the graduate recruitment process.

In case you missed this post in the week 'The worried student's guide to creating a great graduate CV' take a look at this informative infographic about how to perfect your CV.

Pupillage focused articles:

As you may know the Pupillage Gateway applications deadline is 30/04/2014, so I wanted to focus a few articles for all the law students who are currently working their way through their applications.

Don’t suffer trying to juggle your pupillage applications without reading this first. Whether you are applying through the Pupillage Gateway or independently to chambers through their own forms, check out our guide on how to make online pupillage applications and read how you can use experience to get ahead or what to do if you’re not successful first time around.

You don’t need to be an Oxbridge graduate born with a copy of The Spectator in your hand and a family link to high society to get pupillage, but you will need to know how to present your skills. Take the advice of the professional barristers from our talks programme and use it to your advantage in pupillage applications with our handy guide.

Law assessment centre advice:

Our TARGETjobs Law editor, Julia, attended an event for students at the Reed Smith offices on Wednesday: a mock group exercise, run by the US firm's recruiters. Find out what she learned about how to shine during assessment centre exercises.

We conclude as always with the roundup of graduate job deadlines closing soon: here

We wish you the best of luck with your applications.

Happy weekend everyone,
Roxanne
